Welcome to The Bladed Earth

The Bladed Earth is my homemade fantasy roleplaying campaign. As I am not currently running a game, for now this wiki acts as a sort of notebook in which I hastily scribble ideas, rather than as a record of actual play. In time I hope that will change.

Links to the various sections of the wiki can be found in the menu to the left.

Game statistics, when they appear, are presented in a format intended for use with the Labyrinth Lord roleplaying game, a freely available ruleset that is compatible with most versions of classic Dungeons & Dragons.

Beyond my primary goal of simply entertaining myself, my intent is to create a usable game setting in which published scenarios can be placed without a need for massive retooling. This should not imply that The Bladed Earth is "vanilla"; while most of the usual trappings of a classic D&D campaign are present, they are often altered to suit my tastes, sometimes drastically so.

The format of this site is patterned after the organization of Scott Driver's own fantasy campaign wiki, The Darkling Grimoire. The Bladed Earth was originally built as a backdrop for a campaign based around Michael Curtis' Stonehell Dungeon, and many of its elements are carried over from - or at least intended to accommodate - that work. Likewise, I freely lift concepts that I find inspiring from other sources, including RPG blogs and forums, other RPG settings (both professionally published and homebrewed), bad movies, literature of questionable merit, obscure comics, and the like. I strive to give all due credit whenever possible, but in case I falter, let me point out that this site is not a commercial venture and my use of such concepts should not be construed as a challenge of the original creators' rights.

I maintain a roleplaying-related blog, Dungeonskull Mountain, where this setting originally debuted in its embryonic form as "The Isle of Cosk". If you have any questions or comments regarding The Bladed Earth, please contact me there.
